How SP affects SU

Postby mitcorb on Thu Jan 28, 2010 11:47 pm

I still have not downloaded SP.
I have these questions. Some of them may be very naive. And I did not see anything in the available documentation.
Does SP integrate into the SU "environment"? Or do you switch from SU to SP to apply physics to the model?
Once SP is running, can you continue to do basic modeling? This question is dependent on those above.
Can you switch the physics properties on and off for each entity? I guess if you can, this is done in an attributes or properties interface window?

All works in same time on the same UI!! :enlight:
It's just a plug of physic animation ;)
You can zoom rotate move the screen during the animation, that block it untill you release the mouse button !
You can take the volumes and move them in real time during the animation!
You can't modeling during the animation so stop it, modelize, run the animation etc...
You select a volume for give it some properties
(old version but new must be the same concept ;)
The poor Bryce will have some troubles in a short time as cube is falling!

Thanks, Pilou:
So with your reply in mind, perhaps I am not ready to utilize SP. Why? because all I am currently interested in is the concept of the convex hull keeping objects separated, so that if I moved or stacked a bunch of organic shapes on top of each other, they would occupy their own space and not move through their neighbors. If convex hull could be applied as an attribute to a component, this would be ideal. Maybe it can already, but I don't know. I would also like to be able to drag an elongated object in the model space by one end and move it into place sort of like you would move a heavy couch-- one end at a time.
Just another whack idea!

Hmmmm
The disinterest is deafening.

The SketchyPhysics community, as it's become known, has pretty well emancipated itself from this forum to the user-created 'SketchUp Users' @ http://sketchupusers.vacau.com/

In answer to your question, convex hull is one of the shape primitives that can be applied to groups. More complex shapes can be created by combining the primitives.

Ok, thank you Wacov for your reply. I will check out Sketchupusers at vacau.com.

Immediately upon entering the site with address you gave, my Norton Antivirus threw up a warning the site is unsafe. This could be a false warning, however I exited the site and was unable to explore.

I expect that's because vacau provide free web hosting, and there are plenty of people who will use that for malicious purposes. The SketchUp users site, as far as I know, is completely safe, but like any other website, there are no guarantees, although I know I'll still use it.
