pressing the ctrl key will toggle the plus sign by the push/pull pointer and toggles new face versus move face. try it its hard to explain.

thats what im doing(i guess), but is there a way to make the edge around stay, while preventing the face inside the object from being created.

you have to make sure there's no plus sign beside the push/pull cursor or it will create internal faces.

you could also use this plugin http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=25466 which removes internal geometry for exporting. :)

Actually the the image showing the "wrong" way is the way i want it but without the internal face(thats how all other 3d software are extruding an surface. So probably the plugin is what im looking for.
here is an image illustrating how i want it http://piclair.com/data/uwkth.jpg

well you can't do that with push/pull and not get internal faces. you can however make your cube the full height (from image) then select the top or bottom perimeter edges and ctrl copy them up or down as many times as you wish with no internal faces being created. :)

Aquatis, are you wanting this functionality for a box modeling workflow? A plugin could be made fairly easily to re-create the pushpull tool so that it does not add internal faces when pushpulling.

i think that may prove valuable to alot of people chris! specially people coming from other 3D apps where extrude doesn't leave these internal faces. :)

actually "jointpushpull" and the push/pull tool in "SDS" work properly. too bad you have to pre-select the faces to use them, kinda screws the work flow

You have a plug "Remove inner faces" by Wikii ;)
And after use CleanUp by Thomthom ;)
So no problem ;)

EEbyVector works on selected Edges only and it makes only the side Faces - it makes no end Faces [at either end] - then you can just over draw on Edge on the last set to make the 'capping' Face...

Thanks for all the help.
Comparing these two:
viewtopic.php?f=323&t=12668&p=92276&hilit=+Remove+inner+faces+#p91814

viewtopic.php?f=323&t=25466

which one is the best?

My 'manifold' does a lot more but you might not need it all, so the other will be quicker - try both and see... :?:
